Cutting down a tree, simple, right?

If you are capable of operating a chainsaw, you could do it yourself.  However, there are many dangers involved with proper tree cutting techniques.  The best thing for you to do is hire a skilled professional who is experienced and insured.  Generally, trees should not be cut down unless there is no other option.  If it is dead, unsafe, diseased or blocking construction a certified Arborists can offer professional advice and provide you with a quote.  Some municipalities require a permit to remove a tree, so it is always a good idea to check with your municipality.  It is also a great idea to plant a new tree to replace the one that was removed.

What is Certified Arborist?

A Certified Arborist is a specialist in the care of trees.  To become a Certified Arborist in Ontario you must enroll in the Arborist Apprenticeship Program and complete both 660 hours of in class schooling and 5400 hours of workplace experience under the supervision of an Ontario Certified Arborist.  Devin, the owner of Timberscapes, takes pride in his certification and enrolls his tree service employees in the program as soon as possible and encourages them to complete their certification.

Will you take out the stump?

Timberscapes does offer stump removal.  We can add this service to your quote and will bring a specialized stump grinder to take the stump down below grade and backfill the grindings to decompose naturally.  Cost is usually determined by the diameter of the stump and ease of access.  Although the stump grindings are normally left on site, they can be removed at your request.  Be sure to ask about this during your quote consultation.

Are you insured?

Timberscapes carries up to $5,000,000 in liability and damages insurance and our crew are covered under WSIB.  Insurance certificates can be provided upon request.

How much do you charge to come and give me an estimate?

Our certified Arborist will come to your home or business and give you a written estimate free of charge.  If you have a large property with many trees and are not looking for a quote but more of a site evaluation, we can provide consulting services at an hourly rate.

Will we need a permit to take down our tree?

Some municipalities do require a permit to remove a tree so it is always a good idea to check your local guidelines.  If an Arborist Report is requested, Timberscapes can prepare one for you.

What happens to the wood?

A client may decide to have the wood cut into firewood size, unsplit pieces to keep for personal use.  If not, all wood and brush will be taken away and your yard will be clean and tidy when Timberscapes leaves the site.  All wood and debris is separated and disposed of in the best and most environmentally-friendly way possible.

How much will it cost?

There are many factors that Timberscapes will take into consideration when estimating the cost of a tree service.  The location and ease of access, size of tree, space and surrounding structures and overhead wires are all important factors to consider.

What is an Ash Borer?
